Tournament Information

  • This tournament will take place on Sunday, May 31st at 10 am.
  • Four rounds: first round at 10 am, subsequent rounds occur as soon as possible
  • Four sections: K-12, K-8, K-5, and K-3
  • Time control: Game in 25 minutes with a 5-second delay (US Chess regular and quick rated)
  • Entry fee: $34 by 5/17, $39 by 5/24, $44 by 5/30, $50 on the day of the tournament (on-site registration is allowed; registration for round one closes at 9:30 am on Sunday).
  • Boards and pieces will be provided for all players, but we don’t have enough clocks for everyone (those who have clocks are welcome to bring them)

Venue Information/Logistics

  • PARKING: The hotel has plenty of free parking.
  • Free water will be provided for attendees.
  • There is no scheduled lunch break, but there is almost always time for players to have food between games. There aren't any scheduled round times--rounds will occur as soon as possible.

Open Tournament at 4 pM (Discount for Playing Both, Register by Friday Night)

At 4 pm we have another tournament which is open to both adults and scholastic players. The scholastic event will be over by then, so it is possible to play both events. Here is the link to view information about the 4 pm tournament: https://caissachess.net/online-registration/index/8845 For those who wish to play both tournaments, please register for the scholastic tournament and then email inpersonevents@dmvchess.com to receive a discounted $20 entry into the 4 pm tournament.

Instructions for claiming discount

First, register for the scholastic tournament on this page. Then email inpersonevents@dmvchess.com requesting to be registered for the 4 pm action for $20. Josh will then manually process the action registration on his end. Please make sure to notify us that you'll be playing both tournaments by Friday night in order to receive the discount.
