Scholastic Quads Event

At 3:30 pm we also have a scholastic quads tournament. Players may choose to play in just the championship at 10 am, play only the quads at 3:30 pm, or play both events. Players who play in both events will receive a discounted entry into the quads. If playing both events, the quads will only be $20, regardless of registration date. Otherwise the entry fee for the quads is $30 by 3/26, $35 by 4/3, $40 by 4/11, $45 on 4/12.

A quad is a four-person round robin section in which all participants play each other once (three rounds). Our quads are open to all scholastic players in grades K-12, and each quad will be divided based on rating rather than grade. The advantage of quads is that players get the chance to compete against opponents with close US Chess ratings. The tournament director has discretion when determining quad seeding (for example, the TD may use a player's unpublished rating). Depending on the exact number of registrations, the bottom section may have five, six, or seven players, in which case that section will be paired as a Swiss tournament.
