Tournament Information:

  • Register here: https://caissachess.net/online-registration/index/7394
  • 4 round Swiss tournament.
  • US Chess regular and quick rated. Time control: Game in 30 minutes with a 5-second delay.
  • Sunday, December 21st from 4 pm to approximately 9 pm. (First round starts at 4, subsequent rounds occur ASAP.)
  • Entry fee: $30 on or before Wednesday the week of the tournament, $35 on or before Saturday, $40 on Sunday (on-site registration is allowed, registration for round one closes at 3:45 pm on Sunday). Free entry to players over 2200 ($30 entry deducted from prizes--please email to register).
  • Two Sections: Open (minimum 1300 rating to play) and Under 1500.
  • Note: In order to play in the open section, players must have a US Chess rating of at least 1300. Players rated between 1300 and 1499 can play in either section. Players under 1300 should play in the Under 1500 section. A player can still join the open section if their unpublished (live) rating is over 1300, even if their monthly rating isn't 1300 yet. The tournament director may decide to have a lower rated player join the open section to maintain an even number of players in the section. The tournament director has the option to use a provisionally-rated player's live rating (regardless of whether it is higher or lower than the player's official rating) for pairings purposes and section eligibility.
  • PRIZES: $100 for 1st in Open; $50 for 1st in U1500.
  • Up to two half-point byes are allowed. Half-point byes can be requested for any round. The deadline to request a half-point bye is prior to the start of round 3.
  • We will have enough chess sets for all players, but clocks will not be provided for everyone. If you have a clock, please bring one.
  • This tournament is open to everyone (adults and children of any skill level).
  • There is plenty of free parking at the playing venue.
  • For questions, please email us at Click here to show mail address or call us at 703-609-0499.
