4 Rounds Swiss, Rounds start at 9:00 AM, next round as soon as all games in a section finish.
Lunch Time: 12:00 PM- 12:30 PM. Food will be available for purchase at the venue. Please pre-order in the morning to avoid rush at lunchtime.

Sections: K-12, K-8, K-5, and K-3

Note: Blue Ridge Open (September 19- September 21) is for both adults and children, whereas the Blue Ridge Scholastic Tournament (1-day event) is only open to scholastic players.

An awards ceremony will be held immediately after all games in a section finish.  
Players with minimum 2.5 points are eligible get a medal. Top three players (with minimum 2.5 points) in each section get a trophy. Participation ribbons to all other players. 

We reserve the right to merge sections if there are too few participants in a section. 

Players can play up (ex. play in the K-12 section even if they are in 2nd grade), but cannot play down. 

This tournament is USCF-rated. Players in all sections except K-3 must write down chess notation. Electronic notation devices permitted in scholastic tournament only.

Time control: G/30;d5.

Limit two half-point byes. Byes must be committed 1 hr before Round 2. After that time, only zero point byes are allowed.

Entry fee: $40 by 08/03, $45 by 09/07, $50 on or after 09/08 (on-site registration closes 1 hr before round 1)

Withdrawals requested via email before NOON on Friday 09/19/25 are eligible for a refund (minus a $10 processing fee). Full credit can be applied to any future ACA tournament. 
No refunds for USCF memberships after purchased from USCF.
