4 Rounds, Swiss System Tournament

Open to all K-12 players from anywhere

Starting times of rounds:

Round 1:  1:30 PM

Round 2:  2:45 PM

Round 3:  4:00 PM

Round 4:  5:15 PM

Awards Ceremony: As soon as last round finishes

 

Please come at least 20 minutes before the start of the first round for announcements

 

Time control for every round: 25 minutes with a 5-second increment

Please bring your own boards and pieces (not enough are provided)

Please bring a chess clock if you have one

 

2 sections: Under 400 and Open

Trophies for top 5 players in each section

Maximum 49 players for both sections combined

    • This tournament is US Chess rated
      • All US Chess rules and regulations apply

 

  • ALL players must have a US Chess Membership before playing in the tournament

 

      • To compete in this US-Chess-rated tournament, a player must have a US-Chess membership that is current (not yet expired).
      • If a player has ever been a US-Chess member, then the player has a permanent US-Chess ID # that must be entered during tournament registration: player's US-Chess ID # and membership expiration date.
      • A player who lacks a current US-Chess membership is ineligible to play
      • If you do not have one: apply at https://secure2.uschess.org/webstore/member.php
        • Or go to the US Chess membership website and follow instructions 
  • ALL players in grades 4-12 are required to notate their games, K-3 players are not required to notate but it is highly encouraged as a method of preventing cheating
  • Players are allowed to attend either section: under 400 or open
    • The only limitation is players rated over 400 by the US Chess Federation cannot enter the under 400 section. ANY player rated under 400 or unrated can attend either section.
  • Touch move and touch take rules do apply
  • A player showing up 25 minutes late to a game will be forfeited and disqualified from playing in the rest of the tournament
  • NOT a knockout tournament, all players will play all 4 rounds
  • Notify any tournament director if you wish to withdraw, do not just leave with no notice because the next round you will be paired in the system and someone will be left bored sitting for 25 minutes
  • Anytime before the start of round 2, you may request a half-point bye for one round
